As undergraduates, every student in their freshman year will be enrolled in pre-nursing. Students can, in their freshman year, gain admission as Academic Scholars or in the general enrollment. Students receiving general admission into pre-nursing will have to compete for admission into the nursing major. The baccalaureate educated nurse is well-rounded, caring for clients, educating and leading others. The choice, for the registered nurses wishing to get a baccalaureate degree in nursing, is the RN to BSN track.

Masters

The University's Division of Research and Advanced Studies has a college of Nursing that offers a master's level program that will lead to the degree of Master of Science in Nursing (MSN). A particular goal of the master's degree program within the Nursing College is to give nurses the tools for excelling in leadership and management roles in many different settings.

The MSN course offers three ways to get ready for advanced practice nursing. The work the undergraduate nurses put into obtaining their BSN degree provides a solid base for specialization at the master's degree level. The MSN course, nevertheless, consists of an Advanced Road option for people who already have a bachelor's degree in another major besides nursing. Nurses who have previously earned a MSN degree and want to become nurse practitioners can take one of the several certificate programs offered at the college.

After completing the program, MSN graduates fulfill the requirements for taking certification examinations for practitioner and clinical nurse specialists in a variety of fields.

The Accelerated Pathway, a division of the graduate program at the College of Nursing, is made for students with a bachelor's degree in an area other than nursing. Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) graduate degree program focuses on training nurses who want to get into advanced practice nursing or assume leadership and management positions in a number of different health care settings.

Doctoral

The emphasis of the doctoral program is readying nurses at the top echelon of scholasticism. This instruction prepares students for investigation that enhances academic foundations of nursing as an art and science. Graduates should have learned the knowledge necessary to discover, test, interpret, offer, and transmit information in the field of nursing.

Post Master's Certificate Option

The College has a Post Master's Certificate Option for nurse practitioners to specialize in programs like Acute Care, Neonatal, Family Health, Pediatric Nursing, and Gerontological Health.

International Opportunity

You have the chance to be a part of an international work experience when you are a senior. Participating in this experience fulfills a part of the required clinical hours.

As part of the student's international experience, you get the opportunity to serve in rural communities. Involvement is offered in an array of activities, among them: clinical service, primary school teaching, and community evaluations. On a daily basis, you will collaborate with others in a multidisciplinary team. As well as nurses, the group is made up of medical students, residents, doctors, and various health experts.
