The A.A.S Degree in Nursing develops on the technical experience of licensed practical nursing, providing LPN's the training they need to help them take and pass the licensing exam for Registered Nurses. Across the curriculum, the nursing process is utilized to meet objectives and help individuals satisfy fundamental needs.

The main objective of the course is readying novice practitioners to satisfy the needs of clients and the community. The nursing program uses the framework developed by Gordon's "Functional Health Patterns" as well as Abraham Maslow's "Hierarchy of Needs" to develop coursework. Professional Behaviors, Communication, Assessment, Clinical Decision Making, Caring Interventions, Teaching and Learning, Collaboration, and Managing Care are the topics the curriculum is centered around.
Practical Nursing Diploma
The Practical Nursing course trains graduates to be nurses capable of working under different structured health care settings through supervised sessions with registered nurses and physicians.
Upon achieving graduation, students qualify for application to state nursing board licensing tests. Upon licensing, graduating students can gain positions in LPN or Licensed Practical Nurse roles. Those graduating from Spencerian's Practical Nursing curriculum have had great success in obtaining positions.
A student will have on-the-job experience during the clinical part of nursing. This part of training is performed in an array of medical settings with supervision provided by professional nursing staff. This program is available in the daytime or in the evening.
Graduates of the Spencerian College Practical Nursing Program:
- Assume the role of competent, caring practical nurses. These graduates are perfect to work in a variety of structured health care settings under the direction a registered nurse, licensed physician, or even a dentist.
- Practices the caring phenomena, working health patterns, and the nursing procedures to give safe and effective nursing care to people and their loved ones in the human health realm.
- Shows self-discipline and is responsible for keeping nursing competence with individual and expert development.
- Possesses effective communication skills for dealing with patients and co-workers in a medical setting.
- Exhibits practical accountability, following the criterion for ethics and legality in this career.
Admission to the College requires either a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate. To provide evidence, a student should submit a high school transcript, a copy of a diploma or GED, or the student's signed confirmation. It is necessary for candidates to prove competency for their chosen field of study. Course concentrations include further requirements.
If you qualify, you can get financial assistance. Among the tuition assistance plans are loans, grants and scholarships for enrollees. Spencerian College hires a number of worthy students for part-time work as well, is approved to to train veterans, survivors of veterans, as well as children of incapacitated veterans. This program is administered by the US Veterans Administration under public Law.
