Nurses are among the most desired people in the country
The Department of Nursing provides a 4 year course of study which prepares you to get the Bachelor of Science in Nursing and makes you able to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). Due to the extreme shortage in nursing that worsens each year in the US, our graduates are in high demand.
The foundation
Students in their first year of the BSN program take classes in the humanities, science and social science, as well as an introductory course in nursing. The student will have the chance to adjust to university life before entering their clinical courses with this format.
Clinical - hands-on experience
During the sophomore year in the fall is the time students begin clinical assignments, and will continue to do so throughout the rest of the coursework. A total of 1104 clinical hours in many different settings will have been completed upon graduation. The principles of leadership, research, medical evaluation and caring are incorporated in all aspects of the coursework. Clinical places consist of hospitals, extended care institutions, town/home health agencies, physician's offices and health departments. A fully-stocked simulation lab furnishes a supervised campus facility for practicing proficiencies and medical evaluations. The clinical environment is provided during both the mornings and evenings. The instructors in the nursing program educate and guide students through classroom lectures and clinical experiences. As seniors, pupils complete the pre-NCLEX test to ascertain preparedness for the NCLEX state board assessments when they graduate. The price of the test is $35.00. Enrolled pupils must buy school uniforms. Before beginning their sophomore year, students are provided particular course requirements along with expenses. Enrollees will need to provide their own means of transportation for medical facility visits.
One year of lab science and high school algebra are required for nursing applicants along with the university's General Admission Requirements. High school level biology and chemistry are recommended as well, for entrance into the program.
A grade level of at least C+ is requisite for every nursing class in the curriculum.
Once one finishes the program, one can graduate with a BSN (Bachelor of Science Nursing) degree after one meets with the specific state board of nursing in the state where one plans to work, one can then take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Professional Nursing (NCLEX-RN). Graduates who pass the NCLEX-RN exam are eligible to be a practicing RN.
RN to BSN
The objective of this course is to develop professional nurses as practitioners who can take responsibility for making plans and offering health care for one person, several people, and work in collaboration alongside various health experts.
Each course in the nursing curriculum builds on the last course in the sequence. The comprehensive coursework includes all aspects of patient care for clients of various ages, as well as effective management and leadership skills. Students gain experience in clinical nursing in a lot of different environments. Enrollees must provide their own means of getting to and from medical facilities. In order to progress within the program, a grade of "C" or a GPA of 2.0 in each nursing course and safe practice in all clinical experience will need to be maintained. For students to advance, they must meet the strict guidelines for academic progress outlined in the Academic Regulations. Students will receive a vast educational foundation with the basic science, social science, and humanities classes.
Pupils are enrolled either full-time or part-time, and must successfully finish the curriculum in a period of a decade.
