Associate of Science Degree in Nursing

The desire of the Associate of Science Degree in Nursing Program is to ready properly qualified, entry-level nurses to provide holistic care to persons and families in a structured environment. This plan is established upon Christian morals, organized in a progressive way, and its construction is based on the arts and the sciences. This program is designed for people who want a solid background for obtaining a Baccalaureate degree in nursing. The coursework for an Associate of Science Degree Program involves two years or five trimesters of full-time learning. Students are qualified to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) once they have finished the Associate Degree requirements.

A Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (RN to BS Completion Program)

Its purpose is to ready registered nurses to give holistic healthcare to persons, families, as well as communities, once they have completed the program. Those who complete the program successfully will have the training they need to incorporate theory and research-based knowledge into designing, coordinating and managing holistic health care in a variety of settings. The program is based in Christian doctrine and incorporates art and science courses to enhance one's program of study and help students develop broader world views related to nursing. Once the student graduates they will be ready to improve their professional growth, increase their career mobility, and have a solid base for graduate work.

Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia Program

Patients in the United States have been receiving care from Nurse anesthetists for more than 125 years.

The Master of Science program for Nurse Anesthesia prepares students to become qualified entry-level nurse anesthetists who can provide holistic care to patients and their families. The program is built based on Christian values, with a strong arts and sciences background that is thorough and progressive. The course work for the Master of Science Degree Program is a mandatory 28 months of comprehensive full-time work. Students who successfully complete the program are qualified to take the Certification Examination for Nurse Anesthetists.

Facilities

Every student's learning experience is improved by the state-of-the-art learning environment provided by the Learning Center. These units are ready with the supplies that nurse anesthetists require to take care of a patient in a real clinical setup. To create a clinical experience similar to the real setting, human patient simulators are used in teaching. Students gain valuable experience in The Center, with ample opportunities to use principles with psychomotor skills needed to perform patient care.

Requirements for Admission:

The successful person who applies will:

  1. Obtain the requirements for General College Admission.
  2. Provide proper documentation of the fulfillment of health and immunization requirements.
  3. Prove capable of successfully completing the mental and physical requirements.
  4. Provide proof of a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing or another related major.
  5. Provide complete, up-to-date, official transcripts sent from every undergraduate and/or graduate institutions attended. Transcripts will be accepted as being authorized only if they come directly from the college. They may not be provided by the applicant. Authorized transcripts are also required for every CLEP (College Level Examination Program), AP (Advanced Placement), and/or IB (International Baccalaureate) test taken.
  6. Qualify for Florida Registered Nurse licensure or provide an unrestricted Florida license to work as a registered nurse.
  7. Provide documentation of at least an undergraduate cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale
  8. Provide an official version of a passing score on the Graduate Record Examination or Miller Analogies Test.
  9. Provide proof of completion of at least 1 year’s experience as a critical care nurse.
  10. Provide documentation on certification of Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
  11. Give a statement of goals.
  12. Give 3 recommendations using the FHCHS forms. Additionally the applicant must submit to a period of shadowing by a CRNA.
  13. Pass a criminal background check for every state in which the applicant has lived during the two years prior to the admission date of FHCHS
  14. Submit an application fee of twenty dollars.
  15. Finish the interview process (interviews are by invitation only) successfully.

The Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, GA 30033-4097; telephone: 404-679-4500) has accredited the Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences to give out certificates and award the following degrees: MA, BA and Associate of Science. Additionally this College has accreditation from the Seventh day Adventist Schools, Colleges and Universities.
