To enter the healthcare field as a Licensed Practical Nurse in a wide range of settings such as; hospitals, physician's offices, clinics, dental surgeons, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, rehabilitation centers, urgent care, or with patients in private home settings, students will need to receive the knowledge and clinical skills that The Licensed Practical Nurse program provides. The NCLEX-PN licensure examination is available for graduates.

Admission Requirements

You must be a high school graduate or have a GED equivalent, and take the entrance test. A personal interview is strongly advised.

The requirements of those applying to the nursing program include submission of an essay, an interview, and a health examination to be performed by a physician, nurse practitioner or physician assistant. The requirements of New Jersey regulations and affiliating agencies must be met with the required immunization and communicable disease history. There is a requirement of written consent in order to conduct a criminal history background check.

The New Jersey Board of Nursing has provisionally accredited the Licensed Practical Nurse degree program as recommended by the State Board of Nursing Education Committee.

Social Activities: Throughout the year, the students of Dover Business College sponsor casual social events such as the summer picnic and the holiday party.

Community Activities: This student body engages in various community activities, food drives, as well as fund raising events for such charitable organizations as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, March of Dimes, and the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research and the Red Cross. Healthcare students work at health fairs, blood drives, and medical screenings for the general population.

Guest Speakers: Classrooms have the opportunity to learn about current career trends and positions from experienced and knowledgeable professionals from healthcare facilities and businesses.
