Nurse Assistant Certificate

Computer Career Center in El Paso, TX provides the technical school training enabling its graduates to provide quality care to patients in hospitals or long-term care facilities as a Certified Nurse Assistant. While participating in class work in the program, students will show competence in the skills of performing CPR, reading vital signs, and properly handling a patient. Prior to accepting employment in a hospital, long-term care facility, or doctor’s office, students are required to acquire the skills needed to gain certification from the State of Texas and satisfactorily finish a clinical externship experience.

Nurse Assistant Home Health Aide Certificate in El Paso, TX

In El Paso, TX there is a Nurse Assistant Home Health Aide Certificate. The classes needed for this diploma program teach the methods of taking care of patients who stay in the house, in hospitals, or reside in nursing homes. Students will be instructed how to treat patients and help them with necessary care while they respect the patients rights. Performing CPR, basic first aid, and assessing vital signs are among the skills students will learn as they prepare to pass the exam for Texas state certification. Also, through their Spanish Training Program, the Computer Center can help those students who speak Spanish to develop the necessary skill sets so the can work as a Nurse Assistant Home Health Aide. Each class is taught using Spanish. Students are taught how to care for patients in their home, hospitals, and long term care facilities. Students learn the fundamentals of interacting with patients while still maintaining patient rights. Students will be ready to get a passing grade on the Texas state certification after they finish technical school and know how to do CPR, beginning first aid, and check vital signs.

Currently, the profession of home health aides is experiencing growth at a rate considerably greater than that found in other occupational areas. There is an increasing need for health care professionals who can speak Spanish with a rising Latino population. There is a need for the home health industry due to people getting older and the push to avoid long stays in hospitals and other facilities.

Vocational Nurse

The Computer Career Center provides courses that are rewarded a certificate to become a Vocational Nurse. Nurses who are capable of administering treatments to patients are produced by this program. The National Council Licensure Examination for Vocational Nurses (NCLEX-PN) is available to students upon completion of their certification, along with career opportunities in settings such as clinics, hospitals, and long-term health care facilities.

Vocational nurses are responsible for patient care including taking vital signs. They are responsible for keeping an eye on the condition of the patient and informing the doctors, paying attention to reactions to treatments and medications given. Routine laboratory tests require samples to be collected, which is a responsibility typically held by a vocational nurse. Also, they handle feeding patients while noting what is eaten versus what is expelled. Ensuring a patient's comfort is an important aspect of the job. Administering medications prescribed by doctors and starting IV fluids are within the allowable duties for vocational nurses in certain states. There are some specialties that some vocational nurses specialize in like caring for infants or taking charge of nursing aides.
