Colorado Technical University's program in Practical Nursing (PN) was created to help prepare students to enter this growing field by teaching basic techniques, assessment skills, IV therapy, and client assistance with life and wellness. The study of the pathology of disease is incorporated into the program as well. There are several ways to develop your skills through either acute care, long-term care or community settings.
The Missouri State Board of Nursing has approved the program offering in Practical Nursing at the Kansas City campus. Once you complete this program, you can take the NCLEX-PN exam.
Associate Degree in Nursing
The ADN (Associate Degree in Nursing) program helps students prepared to be nurses by helping them learn how to take care of patients, develop assessment skills, administer IV therapy, and provide client assistance with their life/wellness issues. The study of disease pathologies is also covered in this program. You can gain experience in acute care, long-term care and public settings.
The Colorado Board of Nursing has approved the Colorado Technical University Associate in Nursing Degree Program.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing - RN to BSN Completion Program
This program is designed to meet the needs of the RN seeking to advance his or her career. You will be poised to benefit from an expanding demand for skilled registered nurses after completing the program, where you will acquire and refine the skills needed to be a leader and lifelong achiever in a nursing career. Advances in health care, allowing more health problems to be treated and an emphasis on preventative care, coupled with an aging population requiring nursing care have increased expected demand for health care 23% through 2016*.
By 2010, the National Advisory Council on Nurse Education and Practice would like to see 2 out of 3 nurses having a minimum of baccalaureate-level academic work. RN to BSN courses are an opportunity to obtain higher education to further development of critical thought, and analytical ability to get nurses ready for a wider scope of work. Obtaining a baccalaureate degree in nursing offers many advantages over associates degrees, one of which being the opportunities for advancement for RN's.
