A lack of nursing educators is the main reason tens of thousands of qualified applicants are turned away from nursing schools every year. Capella's PhD program in Nursing Education specialization is structured to equip the graduate-level nurse with the tools necessary to meet the growing challenges in the field through doctoral research. This PhD program in Nursing Education focuses on skills and knowledge critical to the Certified Nurse Educator® (CNE) exam in line with the Core Competencies for Nurse Educators© as defined by the National League for Nursing. The coursework consists of subjects like advanced nursing concepts, course design and testing, teaching methods, and classroom analyzing. Likely candidates for this program are people currently working in health care and nursing faculty members who wish to share and/or advance their knowledge, skills and abilities in the nursing field.
