Brown Mackie College
Nursing Degree:
The nursing degree program gives graduates knowledge and principles harvested from an array of disciplines such as general education, behavioral science, biology, and of course, science of nursing. These are the primary elements of the educational foundation necessary to practice nursing in a professional environment. One of the most important aspects of professional nursing education is concurrent integration of theory into clinical practice. Students will become prepared to take the Kansas State Board of Nursing mandated tests to receive a Registered Nurse license.

After graduation, employment is typically found in hospitals, home health agencies, and long-term care, among many others. Some of the common duties nurses perform include assessing and providing treatments and therapies to patients, administering oral, injectable and intravenous medications, providing patient education, and ongoing rehabilitation.
Practical Nursing program
The program of Practical Nursing Instruction in the classroom is balanced with clinical experience in the program of Practical Nursing. Those who complete the program will have a grounding in fields like medical-surgical nursing, pediatrics, obstetrics, geriatrics and pharmacology. People who graduate from this program are eligible to test for a LPN State Board license.
Some areas in which graduates of the college program are in demand are entry level nursing careers in clinics, hospitals, long-term care, and a variety of other settings. Their job obligations might consist of testing vital signs, giving medicine, gathering test samples, and offering general basic care.
A Practical Nursing diploma plan gives you instruction on:
- The form and purpose of the human body.
- Laboratory practice and instruction on the principles of administering medication, developing skills such as critical thinking, and proper calculation of doses or medication.
- The basis in theory of specific nursing processes and skills, including the care of clients with more commonly occurring health issues in the medical/surgical arena.
You must provide official transcripts and documentation of graduation from an accredited high school, high school equivalency, or other secondary education program approved by the state of origin.
When deciding which program is most suitable for your needs, your previous education and career goals are evaluated. Credits you have earned from previous academic work at accredited colleges, universities, or technical or business schools can be transferred upon request.
