The Master of Science in Nursing program concentrates on interrelated academic readiness in subjects like leadership, education, administration, and worldwide health care. The Master of Science in Nursing program is unique. The Benedictine Master of Science in Nursing is quite different from the various other computer-based programs leading to a graduate degree in nursing. Coursework mixes eight courses with the versatility of four extra elective classes that can be connected to focus on a specific area. The vital proficiencies needed in order to perform in the health provision arena are incorporated within eight foundation classes. Students can alternatively choose elective courses to reach across academic disciplines to create a customized, inter-disciplinary Nursing Master of Science degree.

Before finishing the main nursing classes, students will have a student advisor to work with and the M.S.N. Program Coordinator to choose specific courses from Benedictine's Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Management and Organizational Behavior, and/or Master of Public Health programs to meet the elective requirements. The versatility given by elective classes lets nurses in the M.S.N. program learn in-depth, benefiting from elective courses in either specific disciplines or gain broader exposure to many different disciplines by selecting courses from multiple areas. This gives the student a chance to get a customized academic and career growth strategy that also meets the skill requirements of current and future professional positions.

Because a well-rounded education extends beyond the classroom, laboratory, or library, Benedictine University operates residence halls that are integrated with academic life. Dormitory living allows pupils to enrich their academic experience by combining it with socialization. Some skills students must establish and maintain include developing values, social interactions, organizing and prioritizing work.
